About CNG

Compressed Natural Gas is a natural gas compressed in high pressure, i.e. through compressors at 200-250 bars. Compressed Natural Gas mainly consists of methane 80-96 per cent, ethane 2-10 per cent, propane up to 5 per cent and butane up to 5 percent. CNG octane number equals approximately to 120-125. One of the characteristics differing CNG from Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) is its pumping into tanks in the gas state. One of the main reasons for spread of CNG in the world as an engine fuel is that in contrast to traditional fuels, lower amount of toxic waste in ecological terms and cheaper cost. Unlike traditional fuels, amount of carbon monoxide is less by 90 per cent, carbon dioxide approximately by 24 percent during use of CNG. As CNG does not contain nitrogen (N) and sulfur (S), there is no hazardous NO and SO waste or close to zero. At present, CNG is widely used in the world as an alternative engine fuel type in comparison with other types of fuels. Considering international practice, we can see that Iran, China, India, Russia, Argentina, USA, Italy, Austria, Germany and other European countries are the countries mostly using CNG.
